Dr. Barkate is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists indicating he is among a small number of orthodontist in the United States who has earned this high level of recognition and excellence in his specialty. He is also an Invisalign Premier Provider; a title awarded to only the top 5% of all Invisalign dentists.
Dr. Barkate has the distinction of being featured in the Orange Coast magazine’s Top Doctors of Orange County issue and was voted by his dental colleagues as a Top Dentist in Orange County featured in Coast Magazine. In addition to his private practice, he is a lecture and faculty member of the UCLA School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Barkate is a Dean’s Scholar Graduate for UCLA and a Magna Cum Laude Graduate for UCSF School of Dentistry. He then completed his orthodontic residency and earned his masters in orthodontics from the University of the Pacific.
Dr. Barkate stays current with the latest advances in technology and techniques with memberships in many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, California Association of Orthodontists, Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, where he is also the Program Chair of Continuing Education.

In Dr. Barkate’s spare time he and his wife, Krystal enjoy playing with their children, Maddie and Cooper most of all. He also stays active by mountain biking, running and surfing.
Dr. Barkate is an orthodontist in Newport Beach and Ladera Ranch, CA who specializes in providing orthodontic braces for children and adults. He also provides orthodontic care for residents in Costa Mesa, Rancho Mission Viejo, Las Flores, Huntington Beach and South Orange County.
